Summer News & "First Thursday" this Thursday

Over the summer, Ambient Wonder bundles a pile of inflatable chairs, lamps, crafty bits and gaffa tape into the boot of a car and took part in the Greenbelt Festival, in Cheltenham. We are always love being part of the programme at the festival, and this year was no exception. We were contributing to the all day "Worship Collective" event, along the theme of Jazz. A whole load of people came through the doors, and if you were one of them, We hope you found it interesting/inspiring/thought provoking/worshipful.

And we had the opportunity to meet a few more Greenbelters, when we set ourselves up in the middle of a thoroughfare, and invited passers-by to 'Meet Christ in a Stranger'. After a few odd looks from onlookers, and a handful of furtive glances from would-be participants, we established a small gathering of people discussing what they found inspiring about Greenbelt, and where they saw Christ working at the moment. It was truly one of the most uplifting moments of the festival for me as we met a whole bunch of other people along the road.

So, on returning, we decided it was time to re-assess what we do as Ambient Wonder a little. We realised that we really want to develop as a community, and value the time we spend together in discussion - something that can sometimes be derailed in the desire to develop an event. So, in acknowledgement of this, we decided to give ourselves a term-off, to spend time with each other without the added pressure of creating worship events.

So, on the first Thursday of every month, we're having what's become known (imaginatively) as 'First Thursdays'. Meeting in the Workshop Cafe on Earlham Road, we'll come together for snacks, drinks and a different discussion topic. In September, we discussed "Being Lost", and were really encouraged by the conversation that ensued.

This month, the subject is "Being Found" (if you're sharp, you may have noticed a theme...), and we would love to see you - with or without a Poem/Photo/Song/Prayer you can contribute.

'First Thursdays' is a 7:00 on the 4th November, in The Workshop cafe on Earlham Road
